New to DeFi?
The Digital Frontier
If you are totally new to DeFi (decentralized finance), read this primer.
Edge allows you to easily connect to DeFi protocols with a familiar mobile / desktop app experience and streamlines the onboarding process. If you are familiar with DeFi, skip to the Bots section to learn about how to easily leverage our bots to give you a trading edge.
What is a wallet?
When you create an Edge account, a new wallet is created for you (actually two wallets for both Ethereum and Solana). In order for bots to automatically trade on your behalf, they need to have access to the the private keys of those new wallets (that's why we start with fresh wallets). This works the same way as popular Telegram trading bots (although it's not often talked about). However, we take security very seriously and use the utmost security precautions beyond the standards set by Telegram trading bots. Furthermore, we are working on a purely non-custodial option as well.
But it's important to understand that your Edge account is a Hot Wallet. Please do not keep large sums in it—only what you intend to actively trade. You should occasionally offload large amounts to a Hardware Wallet. Please act responsibly, we are not responsible for the funds in these wallets. Please see the terms and conditions for further details.
Note: Currently, you can connect to the Edge app with an external web3 wallet but this is only used for log in and authentication purposes. An Edge wallet is still created for you and you need to transfer funds to it. Soon we will offer a fully non-custodial option that will allow you to use all the features of the app including the automated execution of the bots.
Security
Our tech stack utilizes state-of-the-art web2 security. Private keys are encrypted and are never decrypted outside of transient memory. The decryption key is not available to be read by any person. Edge only interacts with heavily battletested and audited smart contracts (e.g. the Uniswap universal router).
